Auditor in CGDA is a 2800(Grade Pay) Non-Interview job, which means when you don't clear the Interview cut off you are called for Non-Interview posts such as Accountant, Auditor in CGDA, C&AG etc.
Organisation
Controller General of Defence Accounts(CGDA) comes under Min. of Defence is one of the oldest dept. in India and look after financial aspects of Armed forces(Army, Navy, Air force) simultaneously organizations like Border Road Organization, DRDO, CSD canteen, Military Engineering Services and few more. With Financial aspect I mean making Salaries, Army Group Insurance, Budget, Acquisition, Audits, Billing, LTC etc...
It has more than 1000 offices across India including Lakshwadeep, Andaman & Nicobar Island and Ladhak.
After joining there is a 2 week training withing the office and a training at your Regional Training Center, which depends upon your place of joining.
Probation period is 2 years.

Pay and Allowances :)
It is 2800 Grade pay job which means in a X class city you may get about 24,000 in hand as of 7/2015.
2. You get CSD Canteen card which saves about 30-45% on 95% of household item and these canteen are located very near to your office or within the office building. Limit is about Rs 3500 per month.
3. You get yearly bonus of about Rs 4000, but this is only till you are not an Officer(gazetted)
4. At most of the location you will get Govt. Quarters and these Quarters are exclusively built for Defence Accounts Department. These colonies are well built and maintained.
5. Stations like Ladhak, Ooty, Andaman island etc. are considered as hard posting and are elligible for extra allowances. After serving here for 2 years one can get a location of his choice.
Extra Income:
Although one should not go for it, but if you are so much for it, then let me tell you, it depends upon the section in the dept. you get and also upon the superior officer or your AAO under whom you will be working. But yeah, we can say there are scopes not like Excise or income Tax but surely adequate.

Growth:
After a service of 2 years, you are eligible to write SAS(Subordinate Account Service) exam which comprises of Pre(objective) then Mains(subjective). Exam is quite tough and requires hard work. But after clearing this exam you will become AAO, but for two years there is a probation period and a transfer is for sure(99%) after clearing SAS.
If you dont wish to clear this exam you will become Sr. Auditor(4200 GP) for life time, people who get joining close to thier native place generally skips SAS and remain Sr. Auditor for life as this makes life easy.
Joining at Auditor and clearing SAS, one can reach at most DCDA. all ranks above SAO are recruited through UPSC IDAS(Indian Defence Accounting Services)
